An advanced plug-in application for NetSight Atlas, NetSight Atlas Policy Manager enables simple management of complex network policies, including Quality of Service, Cost of Service, rate limiting, VLANs and filtering. With NetSight Atlas Policy Manager, the policy rule set can be applied dynamically to the entire network with a single action - to simplify and automate the creation and enforcement of user access, network policies and business-enabled networks. NetSight Atlas Policy Manager is the key to role-based administration - the modeling of both IT and business concepts inherent in an Enterasys Secure Network. Through role-based administration, a business or organization can be modeled in software by turning technology abstractions into information meaningful to both business and technology personnel. The NetSight Atlas Policy Manager application defines the "Roles, " "Services" and "Rules" of users connecting to the network via Enterasys hardware devices. NetSight Atlas Policy Manager provides improved configuration wizards so that classification "rules" may be applied to associated devices (switches, RADIUS servers) quickly and easily. At the same time, "services" allow multiple classification rules to be aggregated so that they are applicable to the entire organization - by defining a common language like e-mail, Internet access, or SAP that both technology and business personnel can understand for example. Finally, "roles" or behavioral profiles represent the business functions and departments that exist in a system: executive, sales, engineering, etc. Implementation of NetSight Atlas Policy Manager requires deployment of NetSight Atlas Console as the central component for infrastructure view synchronization, inform ation sharing and preferences configuration. The advanced plug-in applications provided with NetSight Atlas have been designed for use on Windows NT/2000/XP, Solaris or Linux operating systems.
