For high-speed backbone extensions to the SmartSwitch family, Enterasys offers the High Speed Interface Module (HSIM), a user-configurable interface that plugs into selected switching modules and provides connectivity to FDDI, Gigabit Ethernet, ATM or WAN environments. HSIM-F6 is an FDDI/Ethernet module providing wire-speed frame translation through ANSI-compliant SMT, MAC, PHY, MMF-PMD, SMF-PMD, and TP-PMD standards. The HSIM-F6 can operate as a Single Attached Station (SAS) or Dual Attached Station (DAS).
