The Avaya Wireless PC Cards makes wireless networking a practical reality in more environments than ever. Thanks to robust, secure, industry-standard 802.11b wireless networking, you can build networks that were previously far too expensive or too complex. On the client side, the Avaya Wireless PC Cards slide directly into laptop PC's - and they serve desktop PC's through a complete range of Avaya adaptors. On the network side, these same PC Cards can be used with the Avaya Wireless AP-2 Access Point, AS-1 Access Server, Central Outside Router and Remote Outside Router systems. In this way, Avaya brings the power of wireless networking to a full range of environments, including homes, corporate offices, public spaces, outdoor spaces and even across metropolitan areas. Each Avaya Wireless PC card can provide transmission at 11 megabits per second - far faster than T1 or E1 lines. And the cards interoperate with any industry-standard 802.11b transceiver. The Gold version provides enhanced security with a 128-bit key using RC4 encryption. The Avaya Wireless PC Cards can cover great distances, depending on the number and type of internal walls and the data rate. You'll enjoy a transmission range of up to 1750 feet (550 m) through an open office at 1 Mb/s data rate. Transmission range through closed offices is 165 feet (50 m) at the 1 Mb/s rate and 80 feet (25 m) at the maximum 11 Mb/s rate.
