TerraTec Xlerate is a plug'n'play soundcard utilizing the latest PCI technology and optimized to support the ultimate gaming experience. With the increase in speed and power of PC's and processors the industry is moving to PCI, for sound cards this means reduced cost together with enhanced capabilities and improved audio quality. The TerraTec XLerate combines high-quality wavetable music and incredible A3D-I technology as well as compatibility with SoundBlaster, SoundBlaster Pro and AdLib standards in both real-mode DOS and WIN95 DOS box mode. The TerraTec XLerate supports A3D-Interactive (A3D-I), rapidly becoming a standard for new Win95 games. A3D-I creates a more life-like listening experience by replicating the 3D audio cues that the ears hear in the real world. A3D-I requires only two speakers, but still provides an impressive audio experience. Unlike normal "3D" soundcards, A3D-I actually creates additional virtual speakers in a true 3D soundstage, above and below as well as in front or behind you. In A3D-I games, sound sources move in response to game action - experience true 3D interactive action as you hear the enemy behind you whilst spaceships fly overhead and bullets whistle past you ears. The TerraTec XLerate provides both a wavetable and a radio connector to extend the cards abilities. The card can be upgraded with a wavetable daughterboard, or the unique TerraTec ReceiverSystem ActiveRadio Upgrade Module to have a complete RDS FM radio. But that's not all. The TerraTec XLerate provides complete hardware emulation of legacy audio, such as SoundBlaster, SoundBlaster Pro and AdLib sound cards, both in Windows 95 and DOS. So you don't have to throw away any of your old favorite games.
