InfoStation is family of intelligent and rugged RAID and/or JBOD, rack mount, tower or desktop chassis designed to reliably house 3.5 inch half-height or low-profile, single-connect SCSI or Fiber Channel drives, while providing an innovative modular design capable of a variety of drive to host configurations. The following information is specific to the InfoStation 12-bay SCSI backplane enclosure and its capabilities and accessories. InfoStation 12-bay SCSI enclosures are designed to support up to twelve low-profile SCSI Wide Ultra160 SCA drives and also features two additional 5.25" bays for mounting any one 5.25" full-height SCSI Ultra160 device (such as a RAID or NAS canister-style controller, or a full-height tape drive) or two half-height devices. These enclosures are downward-compatible with earlier SCSI Wide technologies (i.e. Ultra2 or Ultra). The 12-bay InfoStation's SCSI Ultra160 backplane interface supports dual host interfaces, and is available with or without an integrated I/O repeater. With the repeater, the InfoStation chassis can be uniquely daisy-chained for multi-chassis operation, supporting as many as fifteen drives per channel. A User Interface Module on the 12-bay InfoStation provides the User with a visual indication of chassis configurations and communication statuses, in addition to providing an RS232 connection for system environmental monitoring, configuration and control. InfoMon , a downloadable chassis monitoring utility program, provides the InfoStation with a customizable, web-based monitoring capability via the RS-232 serial connection. An audible alarm on the InfoStation alerts the User to system hardware failures and warning conditions. LED indicators at each drive bay provide additional User feedback for drive activity, drive readiness and drive faults. Another feature available for use with the InfoStation chassis is InfoMon, a downloadable chassis monitoring utility program. InfoMon provides the InfoStation with a customizable, web-based monitoring capability via a serial connection.
