With the TH-50PHD3E Panasonic presents the new Jumbo amongst the plasma panels. The giant 50-inch panel with a 127 centimeter visible diagonal produces brilliant pictures with a resolution of 1, 366 times 768 pixels in the modern 16: 9 format. The contrast reduction of 3, 000: 1 and brilliant brightness combine to produce a professional quality of image reproduction that will be hard to rival. This latest top of the range model is ideally suited for installation in airports, reception lobbies, at exhibitions, in TV studios, for monitoring and, of course, at home. Charts, animation, TV, Internet pictures and videos can all be presented on the multimedia screen. The TH-50PHD3E displays significantly more pixels (1, 366 times 768) than its smaller relation, the TH-42PWD3E (852 times 480). This results in finely detailed, true to life resolution on the giant screen. Thanks to the use of asymmetrical phosphor strips, the receiver attains very high brightness levels and clearly defined fine white gradations. With a light level of 500 candelas per square meter, the panel can also be used in a very bright environment. An innovative digital technique employing artificial intelligence (adaptive intense brightness) together with 16.77 million colors all contribute to the astounding picture quality. 1, 024 gray shades guarantee realistic reproduction of dark scenes. The completely flat surface enables the picture to be reproduced entirely free of distortion right into the corners. Even when viewed from the side, the picture remains perfect - the viewing angle is 160 degrees. The antireflective coating prevents irritating reflections on the screen. Large area and line flicker have been eliminated by the progressive scan function employing dual scanning technology. The multimedia capable TH-50PHD3E is universally applicable. For example, Internet pictures can be displayed on the plasma panel via a PC connection. Other connections enable signals to be picked up in digital TV (HDTV and SDTV), DVD, video and S-video format. The enjoyment of audio and video transmission remains unimpaired by unwanted noise - the heat-dissipating aluminum housing enclosing the TH-50PHD3E has eliminated the need to incorporate a fan. Measuring only 9.8 centimeters in depth and weighing only 45 kilograms, the plasma screen is ideally suited for wall mounting. For television operation, optional loudspeakers and a TV tuner can also be supplied. In addition to the floor stand that comes with the unit, Panasonic can also offer a range of wall mounts, holders and feet as an option.
