OnStream's ADR (Advanced Digital Recording) tape drives combine the capacity and low cost per gigabyte of a high-performance tape drive with the convenience of a floppy drive. The DI30 provides up to 30GB of compressed capacity on each cartridge. Plus, with the included OnStream Echo software, you can store large files and do backups with drag-and-drop ease. The DI30 is an ideal storage and backup solution for power desktop and workstation users. If you need to share and archive large files or to back up a high-capacity hard drive, the DI30 allows you to do either with just one 30GB ADR disk! ADR, an innovative digital tape storage solution, is based on revolutionary 8-channel array technology that allows the solid-state design to read and write eight tracks of data simultaneously. This means ADR drives can deliver impressive transfer rates at relatively low speeds. ADR drives can also employ continuously variable speeds from 0.5 and 2MB per second so they can adjust to the constantly changing data speed of your computer system. This feature helps to decrease wear and noise. ADR also provides high reliability through its advanced embedded servo system, spatially distributed ECC Error Correction Code, and single-pass media defect mapping. OnStream's Echo software allows the DI30 to work in Windows just like any other drive, giving you access to files from any application. Echo automatically makes backup copies of every new or changed file and keeps track of them so you can easily and instantly recall any one of them just in case you need to recover an earlier version. It also has a catalog that is saved on your hard drive, as well as on each cartridge, so you never need to swap cartridges to search for a file. The DI30 has an EIDE interface, which provides a compressed data transfer rate of up to 120MB per minute.
