Redundant NIC feature minimizes downtime due to adapter, cable, or connector failures in server connections to the Ethernet network. Paired with a redundant adapter or with the 10/100 Ethernet connection on the motherboard of a PC server, the adapter can detect a failure to the primary link and automatically switch to the secondary link, minimizing data loss and down time. In the Netfinity PC Server 5500, you can swap adapters while the server is in operation. You can perform repairs without downtime for critical applications in Novell 4.x environments and in Windows NT 4.0 (with downloadable device drivers). The adapter's 32-bit PCI architecture performs demanding, high-traffic server environments without high demands on the CPU. It ships with device drivers for the leading server operating systems and network operating systems.
