The External MultiBay is compatible with most USB enabled systems. For best performance, the External MultiBay should be used with systems that support USB 2.0. On most systems, both Desktop and Notebooks, the External MultiBay should be powered with the AC Adapter provided in the option kit. Select Compaq systems support a Compaq specific USB connection that provides self-powering of the External MultiBay. Hot docking/undocking is supported under Microsoft Windows XP Professional. When being used with other operating systems, the hardware eject icon in the Windows system tray should be used to avoid potential loss of data or damage to the device. The External MultiBay includes a security slot to help protect the device. The slot can be used with a security cable lock to secure the External MultiBay to a stationary object. When the security lock is in place, the MultiBay drive installed in the External MultiBay is also secured.
