Allied Telesis' 's Nemesis Firewall integrates stateful inspection firewall technology with the AR series router products to deliver exceptional security where it counts, the entry point to the network. Nemesis combines the power of dynamic packet filtering, advanced access policies and Network Address Translation (NAT). Impressive reporting and alert mechanisms mean your network is not only protected, but also that you are notified when unauthorized attempts are made to gain access to the network. With the Firewall integrated inside the router, both the router and the network are protected against attack. This integrated solution is not easily bypassed like Firewall applications running on some well-known operating systems. Access security and the Firewall are at the core of a dedicated communications operating system within the router. The Nemesis Firewall validates users when they wish to connect to an 'allowed 'network application. After they have been validated they are free to access network resources without the performance constraints of proxy Firewall technology. No reconfiguration of network clients is required. The Nemesis Firewall provides seamless integration with the AR series VPN solutions, allowing the configuration of IPsec DES, 3DES and L2TP VPNs. The router 's unique ability to dynamically allocate a Firewall policy to incoming VPN connections ensures open communication without compromising security. The default Firewall configuration allows anyone on the private network to access Internet services while denying access from the Internet.
