The switch supports shared and switched technologies, including Token Ring, Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, and FDDI with ATM connectivity. Meeting the specific demands for high-density Ethernet switching in the network edge, CoreBuilder 5000 high-function switching solutions let you migrate your network to higher bandwidths and advanced switching functionality without disrupting the shared media segments you want to preserve. The solutions let you scale desktop port density and bandwidth, and provide high-speed switched Fast Ethernet or ATM OC-3c downlinks to the data center with little or no physical changes to the network of end stations. A single SNMP management module uses 3Com SmartAgent technology to gather information about every chassis in the network.
